Sophie Warren
23 year old Sophie Warren grew up surrounded by horses and
is now a professional Eventing and Dressage rider. Currently competing at the
top of the sport, Sophie has already represented Australia in 2009, riding on
the Young Rider Trans Tasman team.
Now a successful trainer of horses and riders in all three
Olympic disciplines, Sophie believes that she wouldn’t be where she is today
without the support of her parents. “It’s all thanks to my mother, who was a
rider in her younger years, for introducing me to the sport and then convincing
my father that he had to come along for the ride!”.
Eventing is Sophie’s main passion and with her team of
eventers she strives to compete internationally for Australia. “I wouldn’t be
complaining if I got there in Dressage either, but Eventing is my real love and
I couldn’t live without it. That extra level of horsemanship it requires and
the camaraderie between fellow competitors – I think that’s pretty special in
eventing. Of course being an adrenalin junkie might also have something to do
with it!”
Based in Western Australia, Sophie has had much success
campaigning on the eastern seaboard with wins at Canberra CIC, Lakes and
Craters CCI, and top 10 placings at both Sydney International and Adelaide
International 3-Day Events. Locally she has had numerous successes with wins up
to CCI*** level and Intermediare Championships in dressage as well as being
previous Young Rider of the Year and the rider of both EWA Horse of the Year
and the current Dressage Horse of the Year.
Recently returned from training in Europe, 2012 will see
Sophie back in WA competing with her team including EWA Horse of the Year, Let’s
Impress, along with his half-brother, Tequalo – a promising 6 year old, and
Dance Hall Diva, a classy young thoroughbred mare ready for her first
competitions this year. Alongside these are the dressage team spearheaded by
the 2011 Dressage Horse of the Year, Skywalker, a Danish stallion owned by
Heidi Emery.
Sophie is available for lessons in Dressage, Jumping and
Cross-Country for riders of all levels and a limited number of horses are taken
in for training each year.
